Metalwork Restoration Blacksmith Stan Lawler - Heritage Blacksmiths

Blacksmith, restoration and heritage engineer 

We apply traditional skills and techniques to both new build projects, both artistic and sculptural while being functional alongside many restoration works including repairs, restoration and reproduction of historical elements in metal.​

Over the last years Our skills have been applied in a variety of Heritage settings including, Steam Boats, gates, railings, glazing,   Canal boats, Classic cars and Industrial heritage engineering. We travel and work all across the UK from our bases in Yorkshire and Gloucester.

​We work in a wide range of materials including, Steel, Cast iron Copper alloys, Brass and original wrought iron. we also enjoy collaboration with other craftspeople in materials including wood, masonry, glass, windows.​"My aim is to pride myself in being the best craftsman I can be, for me my work is not work it is my hobby and passion." - Stan Lawler

We give every job a personal touch, as your custom allows us to continue to maintain and develop British craftsmanship. We aim to Provide;

  • In depth research, site visits, always a friendly conversation.

  • Pragmatic and robust solutions to engineering or architectural issues. Spending time immersed in Industrial environments, from supplying Whitworth threads right the way through to facilitating steam boiler tests.

  • Traditional tools, materials and techniques. Using hammer, hand and heat to cut, join, forge, form, bending iron.  Our skills can be applied to almost any project with the ability to adapt and learn.

  • A hands on practical approach to work. Up to date industry knowledge and connections training for 3 years at the National School of blacksmithing, Hereford. Attending CPD courses and actively attending events to keep up to date.

  • Unique and creative insights. Hand made designs involve a mixture of drawing by hand, and using the latest CAD software

  • Ethical approaches to Restoration and conservation. Members of various professional bodies, keeping us well informed in the latest best practice A wealth of knowledge or historical ironwork
